what are some interesting and less known facts about aviation?

1.  Top aviation college in East and central Africa. First and foremost, its with no doubt that Kenya aeronautical college is now the top  and biggest aviation college in East and central Africa that is located inside an airport.  with a capacity of over 500 students, KAC is located inside Wilson airport which is one of the top 10  busiest  airports on the African continent. coupling onto its strategic location where at least 60 percent of her students get their first job placements, KAC has her own AMO ( Approved maintenance organization  by Kenya Civil Aviation Authority ) which assures her students of internship Where they attain practical skill thus putting them a head of the aviation school game. KAC also has its own aircrafts under its piloting wing (Skymax flying school) which enables students not only to study about aircrafts but also see and operate/fly them. all these factors put together have enabled the college to maintain its top position in the region for the last  20

The shocking Growing Shortage of aeronautical Engineers now spans the entire globe!!!😢

with all research done, this is the best time for one to take a career in aviation.  According to  Boeing’s Technician Outlook: 2018 – 2037 report ,  the global demand for aeronautical technicians could reach as much as 754,000 over the next 20 years. As it currently stands, the industry barely has enough hands on deck. As a result of this, there are major concerns that the industry will stop growing as a result of the shortage of aircraft engineers. The rapid increase in demand for air travel over the past few decades has led to an increase in the demand for aeronautical engineers, which sadly, has not been met. Aviation has been one of the fastest growing industries and the fact that it is global, the need for qualified engineers now spans the entire globe. According to  Boeing’s Technician Outlook: 2018 – 2037 report , the global demand for aeronautical technicians could reach as much as 754,000 over the next 20 years. How does an airplane that weighs 1000's of tons go into the skies ?

Image
First of all, there’s never been an airplane that weighs “thousands of tons”. Large aircraft may weigh in the hundreds of tons (small aircraft can weigh less than a single ton). As far as I’ve been able to tell, the heaviest aircraft in the world is the AN-225, which weighs about 700 tons. But aircraft (even the monster, heavy-duty ones) are deliberately designed to be as light as possible, for obvious reasons. Still 700 ton is a lot. How do they go up in the sky? With these: That’s a progress D-18T jet engine. It’s capable of 230 kN of thrust, which is equivalent to 23,000 kg. The AN-225 has six of them. Now, that’s not enough to lift the plane directly, but when moving horizontally, it’s enough to kick the plane up to high speeds. And the airflow across the wings at those speeds creates enough lift to raise the whole craft. The interesting thing about air pressure is that, if you have a big enough surface (which you do, on the wings of a large aircraft, even a small pressure differ

Secrets you never knew about being an airline pilot !! #skymax aviation flying school

Do you want to be an airline pilot? follow the QA conversation with one of the great pilots in the region...… What type of plane do you fly? ANS: Cessna 172, Bell 206, Bell 205 and Bell 412 (the last 3 are Helicopters) I am currently active on Helicopter   How long have you been flying? ANS: 5 years   How do you choose which type of plane to fly…Is this done at school or depends on the company you finally work for? ANS: The company chooses and trains you. Others you do a short a type rating course.   What is the most important thing a pilot is thinking about while flying a plane? ANS: Comfort and safety of the passengers   What is a flight plan and what do you consider while making one? ANS: A flight plan gives the idea of your intentions, and you consider speed of aircraft, fuel consumption, flight levels, and alternative airports in case of emergencies   If midway a flight, you realize there is a problem with the plane, what do you do? ANS: It depends on the problem. Sometimes it re

I'm 37 years old. Can I still become a commercial pilot? If yes, how?

You are not too old to become a pilot, in fact you I think you have plenty of time to be very successful.. The demand for pilots will be intense in the next 10 years and you should be qualified by that time. I understand that some airlines in some countries have upper limits for new hires. That’s not true in Africa , I’ve had new copilots who are over 50 in my cockpit and they do a wonderful job! I think that they’ll make captain before they retire. you can become a private pilot as old as you can hold a medical . Many people fly well into their 80s and 90s, and I trained someone in their 60s when I was an instructor, and she was an excellent pilot. If you mean professional pilot (scheduled airlines), then there is a mandatory retirement at age 65 in Kenya  (and many other countries). There is talk about bumping that to 67 and other talk about bumping it to 70. One of those may happen, but my guess is that is a ways away. So if mandatory retirement is at 65, you could be hired as lat

Do you want to become an airline cabin crew/airhostess?

Cabin crew/Airhostess/flight attendant A flight attendant is someone whose primary duty is to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers during an airline flight. They are part of the cabin crew for the plane, a team of personnel who operate a commercial, business, or even military aircraft while traveling domestically or internationally Working as a flight attendant for a major airline provides plenty of contact with people as well as opportunities to travel. The air cabin crew of a commercial airline share responsibility for the safety and comfort of its passengers. Duties/responsibilities of a cabin crew include, greeting passengers as they board and exit the plane showing passengers to their seats and providing special attention to certain passengers, such as the elderly or disabled serving meals and refreshments checking the condition and provision of emergency equipment and information for passengers demonstrating emergency equipment and safety procedures administering first a
